HSA Interclub GS Races
HSA Interclub Races Sunday July 20th
For many decades, the Hotham Ski Association (HSA), now Hotham Stakeholders, has fostered a vibrant spirit of competition and camaraderie on the slopes of Mount Hotham through its much-loved Interclub Races. This annual event brought together members from Hotham’s many ski clubs and lodges, each fielding teams to represent their club in friendly but fierce competition.
The origins of the race trace back to the early days of organised skiing at Hotham, when clubs sought a way to build community, celebrate the alpine lifestyle, and showcase their skills. The Interclub Races quickly became a highlight of the ski season — a blend of tradition, sportsmanship, and social connection.
Held on Hotham’s famous runs, including the challenging slalom and giant slalom courses, the event often featured both junior and senior categories, with skiers ranging from enthusiastic amateurs to highly skilled club racers. Clubs would cheer on their competitors, proudly wearing their colours, and often hosting après-race celebrations in their lodges.
The event not only encouraged a healthy rivalry but also reinforced the sense of belonging and shared history among Hotham’s alpine community. While the format and frequency of the races have evolved over the years, the legacy of the Interclub Races remains a cherished part of Mount Hotham’s skiing heritage.
